WHERE THE HECK HAVE THE INTERVIEWS BEEN? I know what you've been thinking. Twirl Radio has been on a roll. For nearly a year, I've had a new Artist of the Month, and a new podcast interview with aforementioned artist each month. So what went wrong in September? Well, nothing. In fact, September in Sacramento has been extremely pleasant. I decided to use this Twirl v2.0 anniversary month to just kick back and play great music on my show. I've also decided to take stock of the interviews I did over the summer, and noticed a few parallels and similarities. I've decided to call this treasure trove of interviews "The Women of Summer 2007". The last three interviews have all been incredibly talented young women. They were all on my show this past summer. And--most notably--I've been so busy/lazy, that I haven't posted any of these podcasts until now. So let's see what you've been missing. Birgit, actress and singer, came all the way from the Netherlands just to be interviewed on Twirl. Oh yeah, she also toured the U.S. and performed to very receptive and adoring crowds. But I was fortunate to catch up with her on July 21st. Click here to hear her pre-sound check interview from San Jose, CA.Autumn, internationally known radio DJ and stand-up comic, can be heard on the air in every English-speaking country in North America! She does a music shift at Northern California's powerhouse station KUIC. She also does celebrity gossip features on several radio stations in the U.S. and Canada, writes a gossip blog, and donated 18" of her long hair to Locks of Love to benefit disadvantaged children just days after she co-hosted on Twirl. Click here to hear how she sounded when she still had long hair, on August 4th. Amanda Walker, New Orleans-based singer/songwriter/piano player, checked in from Miami, FL on August 18th. It was a pleasure to hear the stories behind her soulful, heartfelt songs on her debut album. I tried to no avail to convince her to bring herself and that incredible antique piano used on her album, to California and the Twirl studios. Something about lugging a grand piano cross country, and then trying to jam it into a walk-in closet-sized studio in Sacramento didn't quite cut it for her.
